Mobile Wallets in Taipei

"beep~", this sound reminds commuters that their Easy cards have been charged when they pass through the Taipei MRT?Mass Rapid Transit? entrance gate. With RFID ?Radio Frequency Identification? technology Easy card allows commuters pay and recharge their transportation fee quickly and conveniently.Today on my way to work I noticed a man using his cell phone to pass the entrance gate. I am not a technomania but this scenario still catches my eyes and I was thinking "hey, it is really a good idea to combine cell phone with Easy card since people can’t live without their cell phones nowadays" As a result, I did a little research and found out that it’s a new service and technology launched by telecoms recently. Users just need to attach a little piece chip on cell phone SIM card then they can pay their parking fee and take bus or MRT by using their cell phones. The only problem is this service is not prevalent right now and not every cell phone can match this system. But I think I”ll get when this service become more mature because it is really convenient.

Maybe in the near future cell phones will function as digital wallet. People can pay fees and purchase by using it. But remember, just don’t lose it!
