The Prime Society

Prime Society’s, located at the top of Dempsey Hill, a fairly affordable steak house frequented by quasi-yuppies who are willing to pay $30ish ($36 for a 160- gram slab, and $42 for the 220g cut to be precise) for a succulent steak and chips served on wood blocks. I don’t think it’s difficult at all to find good food here in Singapore. My western friends are always so amazed at the quality of affordable food we get here, so the thing about Prime Society is not the food, though it is of a high standard. What is great about this place is the ambience, some elements, though, border on tacky. Such as the placemats which explains the cuts on various animals.”

Nestled in trees, this 150 seater restaurant is an ex- British army barracks which features very high ceilings, wooden beams and design details reminiscent of an old boys club complete with a coat of arms and insignia. According to the factsheet, the d”cor is a tongue-in-cheek reference to the exclusive gentlemen’s clubs and formal steakhouses.

Founder, Ingrid Prasatya is also the the franchise owner of Gelare, my favourite waffle place!
