Bangkok’s New Age of BMX Bikers

Asia Scout | June 9th, 2009

Thailand is known for its love of smaller engined motorcycles, and giant motor companies like Honda and Yamaha compete furiously. Recently, this little bike has grabbed my attention for its unique design that resembles a BMX bike, but with more muscles and torque compared to other motorbikes on the street where functionality overcomes style. The tiny little monster is called KSR, made by Kawasaki.KSR has gained popularity and followers among recreational bikers. Check out their community website: http://www.ksrthailand.com/.

Interestingly, the community of KSR enthusiasts are both men and women who enjoy the sensational riding experience, as you can see from these pictures of local bikers who took their KSRs on a 600km adventure trip.

Apart from regular bike trips to the countryside, others seek thrills in developing bike tricks and stunt shows.

See some KSR tricks in the video below from Oblivious (covering HIM’s “Right here in my arms”), a local metal/progressive rock band.

KSR may be just a niche segment in Thailand (for the big picture, check out the 5 Main Classes of Motorbikes in Thailand), but these bikes sure are full of energy and style that no other bikes can give.
