Sneaker fetishes taken to new heights

Young German men, particular Berliners, seem to fall into two general groups: those who wear sneakers, and those who do not. The former insist on really emphasising their fetish to embarassingly fantanical levels (limited limited editions, exclusive signature one offs, wear once/throw away models).

Personally, I prefer to play down the importance of what my foot is wearing and stick to solid classics. If I want comfort, I’ll go with plain white Vans, which still allow you to wear a shirt and not look like a infantile dressed for a wedding.

clarksOtherwise I stick to tried and tested staples such as clarks, ben sherman, fred perry, acne, a.p.c etc. who also all have more tailored ranges for smarter occasions. Combing these brands with vintage band and film T-Shirts also let’s you customise your appearance without the use of tribal tattoos or sweatbands. If I am going for accessories, I’d choose the scarves from A.D.D, which do this kind of Vibskov geometric thing even better than the original.
