Less is More: Production wont make a bad song good

ganglians

Everything is either lo-fi or garage rock at the moment. And yes, it is starting to get boring. That said, I have been listening loads to the Ganglians record Monster Headroom, and it’s like the Beach Boys but without the million dollar production.

The songs are still every bit as good though, and there’s something great about a band managing to communicate to you how the songs sound in their heads without all of the peripheral shit: it’s just not necessary.  So yeah, Candy Girl and Voodoo have been pretty much on repeat (For everybody else: just ‘cause you use  reverb to make it sound like it was recorded in a tin bucket at the bottom of a well, doesn’t mean the songs are necessarily good).

And I love everything about PPM records, From their website with snapshots of the bands just hanging out, to their recent signing of great grunge influenced  groups like The Gun Outfit. A good family to be brought up in for punk orphans with something worth yapping about.
