I haven’t been to a movie theater since the last round of posts – such are the time constraints of a Scout…
However, I will be making extra effort to go see Where The Wild Things Are. I loved the book as a kid, love Spike Jonez, love Dave Eggers, love Karen O who did the soundtrack and beyond that, I love puppets! A friend of mine was interning last summer at the Believer/Wholphin offices and one of his intern tasks was to copy of disk of production stills from the film. Needless to say we all freaked out when he came back and showed them to us.
I’d really like to see The Invention of Lying as Ricky Gervais is one of my favorite comedians. I spent a whole summer being addicted to his hilarious podcasts and his comedy specials are great as well. The plot sounds original enough not to be another schlocky romantic comedy (a genre that makes me want to stick forks in my eyes).
Whip It looks cool – I’m a roller skater myself – but is definitely something I’ll wait until it comes out on DVD to see. Got a copy of the soundtrack though and it’s great! Plus Kristen Wiig is in it and she’s funny and foxy.
