George Clooney is in for one hell of an Oscar season. I recently went and saw “The Men Who Stare at Goats” and was blown away by his performance. But from what I’ve read it sounds like his real chance at a statue is for his upcoming role in Jason Reitman’s “Up in the Air,” though you really wouldn’t be able to tell that from the trailer.Speaking of trailers, I make it a point to not spend a whole lot of time perusing trailers online so that I can be surprised when I go to the theater and have to suffer through a few minutes of advertisements that I have essentially paid to see. Seeing a great trailer takes the burn away from being advertised to as a captive audience member. But I digress.
Though we’re moving into Oscar season and studios are rolling out the tear jerkers, after seeing the trailer before “The Men Who Stare at Goats,” I’m super-excited to see the upcoming remake of George A. Romero’s “The Crazies.” Remakes of horror films are usually a miss, as I mentioned in my last post, but I figure director Breck Eisner has to know how high the bar was set by Zack Snyder’s remake of “Dawn of the Dead” and acted accordingly. At least it appears that way with Timothy Olyphant in the leading role and a compelling trailer.
