Fashion, do I really care?

AD Deertz

Now concentrating solely on menswear, Wibke from ADDeertz recently brought out her new spring/summer 2010 collection. It’s a really nice combination of comfortable, well-cut slacks and shirts, which offer a great alternative to the ubiquitous jeans and t-shirt uniform standards.

In contrast to ADD, it’s as if Berlin based designers Starstyling just released their collection for last winter judging by the number of people currently sporting the clothes in Berlin Clubs:Berlin style 2

It seems like they tried to be quirky for its own sake, taking their influences from the worst of the latent new-wave electro summer. This combined with metalic lycra spacesuits from the set of a terrible soft core sixties sci-fi porno has created something I struggle to come to terms with, let alone imagine why you would actually wear this stuff. Maybe it’s some kind of hommage to the re-release of Star Trek and Duncan Jones’ new film Moon. Luckily, this next years collection looks to be moving back in the right direction.

The Campana brothers have also just released a new amazingly limited edition polo shirt for Lacoste with the aligator logo repeated and piled ontop of itself a dozen times. Apparently it’s supposed to recreate the behaviour of the animals in mud pits, but leavign the concept aside, they’re a pretty nice collectors item.
