My sister is obsessed with collecting sweaters. I thought her collection of ‘ten of the same perfect sweater’ was a bit much, but now, thanks to the earlier-than-usual fall weather that has descended on Toronto, having the perfect sweater (even ten of them) seems to make perfect sense to me and every other Torontonian.
All styles are around – big necks to mid-thigh length, buttons or no buttons, attached scarves, hoods, animal prints, bright colours, patterns, textures, it goes on. Whether it’s a designer original from Girl Friday, or an original design from second hand shopping haven, Goodwill, good old personal warmth comes any way you want it.
Not surprising, because everything makes a comeback (even if it’s the 3rd ‘comeback’), Doc Martens are the footwear of choice this season. Whether the old-school black with contrasting colour laces, or patterned versions, you see them all around a lot. Vintage pairs are the hottest commodity in Toronto, although some will still hold their noses (given Nike now owns the Doc company – (ed – is nothing sacred?)) to fork over for a new pair.
