Gang of Girls, a Retreat for Trendy Women

Asia Scout | November 4th, 2009

It’s a space for girls to talk about the latest fashion trends, discuss new hairstyles and basically have some girly fun. The all-girls virtual community, SunsilkGangofGirls has been created by FMCG player, Hindustan Lever, who manufacturers the hair care brand, Sunsilk. The site was an initiative to directly engage its end users in an interesting manner.

The site offers extensive features targeting the age group of 18-25. The content of the site can only be viewed once a person registers, and soon after registration, she will be flooded with a range of topics and tips on haircare, skincare, beauty tips, tips on how to stay fit and much more.

Girls can join a gang or create one of their own. Members can participate in Gang Wars, start their own Gang Blogs to express their views, or showcase their talent on the Parade Ground and get gang members to boost their chances of winning contests. One of the unique features the site offers is the ‘Makeover Machine’ where members can upload their photographs and give themselves a complete online makeover. They can check the various hairstyles, hair colours, eye shadow shades, makeup, lipsticks, and accessories that suits them the best.

Apart from this, Gang of Girls also helps members seek expert advice on haircare and fashion etc., see what the latest jobs are, upload videos of their choice on GoG TV, read movie news, reviews, listen to music, read celebrity interviews, or play games. The site has a user base of over 5 million girls who have created 43,244 gangs, and the the average time spent on the site is 28 minutes. Packed with such interactive features, Gang of Girls has certainly managed to fascinate the youth of the country, who now have a platform to share their girlie talks!
