I was a bit of a David Lynch fan, that was until I saw Inland Empire which frankly was a jumbled up mess of a film, overly indulgent, followed by moments of clarity, interspered with total confusion. However, I just discovered David Lynch’s interview project, I’ve only seen a couple of interviews so far of the 51 filmed but it’s certainly something worth seeing and delving into – interviewee Clinton telling how he was saved from attempting suicide by Stevie Nicks on the TV is one of those weird, disconcerting Lynch moments.
I love it when people take new technology and utilize it for their own devices. The Editors have created a special hacked version of Google Street View which lets viewers preview tracks from the album in the areas of London which inspired it. 9 locations, off the regular roads and all shot using a 180 degree fish eye lens. Photographer Michael Wolf has taken Google Street View, specifically Paris and has gone through the streets on his monitor creating new images by looking in windows, reflections and cropping the images creating an interesting body of work on his site.
Finally, I have been trying to wade through the presentations on TED, free presentations by some thrilling people with something interesting to say on medical issues, environment, robotics. The list of talks grows and grows, I cant keep up.
