Fashion in New York is gearing for winter which is like a big “who has the best boots” contest among men. Meaning- whose boots are the most weather resistant as well as nicely designed and worn looking. It also looks like it will be the season of LL Bean.
A co-worker and I love to cruise the online catalog looking for outerwear and boots. Rugged outdoors-like clothes and duck-hunting fashion wearing men are kinda like the new mods in peacoats or furry snorkel parkas. Denim jackets are often lined with flannel and detailed in curdoroy. It is a basic working man’s uniform and it feels “classic” and “honest.” This trend really has been around for a while, but it has finally triumphed as the quintessential cold weather look. It is a very American look too, and pre-60′s while somehow 90′s. Referencing the 60′s in fashion and culture has gotten really tired unless its the sober and conventional side of the decade, and referencing the 90′s is still daring and fresh. Other genuine brands that people are coveting at the moment are Woolrich and Pendleton.
Choosing a parka is also important. Keeping it matte helps, as well as toggle cords with leather details, but most importantly it can’t be way too puffy, though it needs goose down. Also you are running out of time.
