A quick snapshot of Sweden’s hip hop scene which at the moment, Stockholm seems to be leading the way in the Nordics if not further afield. Artists such as Näääk, Pato Pooh, Adam Tensta and Maskinen going against the grain, mixing up music genre’s, controversial videos (Maskinen dressed as trannies), defining a new hip hip sound for Sweden in 2010. This is beginning to pay off, with  Swedish artists like Adam Tensta playing alongside the likes of Clipse in NYC and touring the US. Some tracks to check out:

I’m also enjoying Renaissance Man, a Finnish duo who Dave had their careers kick started when Dave “Switch” Taylor signed their very first track Spraycan to his label Dubsided. 2009 they relocated to Berlin and are now playing out all over the place. They have created the music for a French art DVD project “Polissons & Galipettes”  which comes out in December 09.
