‘Big Love’ for war on HBO

Everyone’s favorite polygamists are back. After a captivating third season that got the show nominated for best drama honors at both the Emmy’s and Golden Globes, it’s safe to say “Big Love” has a lot up its sleeve for Season Four. For starters, the show is back with a new opening sequence. Gone is the cheesy scene of Bill and his wives skating together on thin ice to the Beach Boys’ “God Only Knows,” as the scene now opens with everyone singled out seemingly floating through air to the Engineers’ “Home.” I think there are a lot of ominous things to come this season, and if the first episode was any indicator, the Feds are going to play a huge part.

As I usually only watch TV on Sunday nights unless there’s a hockey game on, it’s been a while since I’ve seen what’s coming up on HBO in the coming year. I should have known something big was coming when I saw that it is rebroadcasting the “Band of Brothers” miniseries right before “Big Love”‘s time slot, and the teaser for the upcoming miniseries “The Pacific” — from the producers of “Band of Brothers” —  put it all together. I’ve never owned a DVR or TiVo before, but I might have to invest in one since I think “The Pacific” will be competing for my Sunday night attention with Season Three of “Breaking Bad” come March.

Two hours of TV a week never hurt anybody, right?

A production still from HBO's 'The Pacific'
