This weekend i’m visiting Dansens Hus (House of Dance) a centre for contemporary dance in central Stockholm to see an opera called ‘Tomorrow, In A Year’, based on Charles Darwin and his book ‘‘On the Origin of the Species’ staged by Danish performance group Hotel Pro Forma. Sounds super weird, but i’m really going for the music which Swedish band, The Knife created. They decided to make this a collaborative process, working with artists Mt. Sims and Planningtorock for the first time. They extensively researched Darwin related literature and articles, with Olof from The Knife attending a field recording workshop in the Amazon to find inspiration and to record sounds. They have even made an album of this opera and the album will be released on their website 1st March.
