Located on fashionable Mokotowska, alongside boutiques selling Dries Van Noten, Jil Sander and Comme des Garçons, Galilu Olfactory perfume salon is my true Warsaw gem. Interior was designed by Warsaw based architect Marcin Kwietowicz. Glass shelves encased in wood-panelled walls line the sides of the shop, with seating, a table and decorative lighting occupying the centre of the space. To make the perfumery feel less like a pressurised shopping experience, the till is kept out of sight in a cupboard. Storage is integrated into the walls.

Aimed at those who want to steer clear of more generic offerings, the salon focuses on unique perfume brands from all over the world. If you’re a little daunted by the endless rows of colourful bottles, expert super-nice shopgirls can help to make scents of it all. And spend a lot of money.
