This week I decided to go up to fashion, air kiss it and pretend to be it’s friend, even though actually I’m a bit scared of it. It was the third edition of BCN’s 080 alternative fashion week, which coincided with the streetwear fair The Brandery.
Three designers stood out from the usual garish custo rip-offs like Heal and Crommorc. Manuel Bolaño is currently the hip name to drop in name dropping circles. He did the Teddy bear suit up above, and although his designs are pretty conceptual, they’re still well put together – made from heavy duty fabrics and, for this collection, following traditional galician dress patterns.
Martín Lamothe’s collection was based around cruise ships and naval wear. She’s probably angling for a job at an italian house, but it was still pretty cool. I liked the mens trousers that taper to just above the ankle, simple embroidered jackets, and one cream and navy blue dress held together with mooring rope.
Krizia Robustella, has a funny name but good taste in streetwear. She’s a little too Jeremy Scot for some people but I like her exaggeratedly baggy hoodies and jeans. Maybe I need to grow up though.
