A Few Movies I Plan to Sneak into at SXSW

Kate | March 3rd, 2010

Although I’m regularly too poor/cheap/etc. to buy an actual badge for any “official” SXSW events, there are scores of free or single ticket events that are just begging to be weaseled into during the wonderful upcoming month!

Here are my top three that I’m dying to get into…Get Low stars the genius triumvirate of Bill Murray, Robert Duvall and Sissy Spacek in a folk tale set in 1930′s Tennessee. Check out an awesome clip here. And the screenplay was written by one of the original Mad Men writers? This is bound to be brilliant.

Another Oscar-ready premier coming to my hometown is Edward Norton vehicle Leaves of Grass. This comic thriller has Norton facing off against himself, playing both twins with opposing life visions. Not since Parent Trap have onscreen twins looked so good. Check out the great trailer here.

Last but certainly not least, I’m really excited to see my friend crush Lena Dunham’s new feature, Tiny Furniture. Dunham is an incredible New York-based budding art star whose first feature, Creative Nonfiction, was a major hit last year at the festival. More info is available here!
