I recently set up an interview with Javier Aguirresarobe. You don’t know him either? Javier was the DP in the adaptation of the The Road movie, which was quite a big deal this year for a sizeable proportion of English literature graduates working in and around the media.
Anyway, for a film with hardly any dialogue, it makes more sense to me to focus on the DP rather than the director who, by all reports, is a bit of a douchebag. I enjoyed The Road because it’s more like a science fiction film than anything else. I think that for real life films, digital and POV cameras are infinitely better but hey, it’s not like you can shoot a post apocalyptic wasteland for cheap. I have also discovered that Aguirresarobe started his career as the DP on… El Pico 2 (!)
