Two of my comedy legends are soon to be in cinemas. One American, one English, both patriots by their first documentaries definition. The first, Bill Hicks, comes back to life from an “early death” in a documentary on his life ”American”. The second, Chris Morris, pushes the boundaries with his jihad comedy Four Lions. It shows how ridiculous extremism is, weakening the power of these people in our society. Four Lions could be to jihad extremists what Allo Allo was to Nazis (well that is if Allo Allo was released a little nearer the war!). It’s a very English trait to find humour in the darkest times and take comedy to another level. Indeed!
