Hotel ballrooms have been a meeting place for the upper crust of socialites for years, but it seems that when the hotels have trouble filling them with rich people, they call on people like me to hang out and DJ and all that. I may not have entertainment lawyer parents, a Soho loft, or modeling experience, but with the help of some free bottles we can make a party and I can invite my mostly broke “creative-type” friends. And you know what? its not so bad, actually its really nice and fun and the people are often attractive and the staffs are hospitable. I didn’t move to NY to rot in some dive bar drinking garbage beer yaknow? Tribeca Grand, Soho Grand, Jane Hotel, the Standard, and Bowery Hotel are notables. The Ace Hotel is more tailored to hipsters and less toward businessmen than any hotel I have ever encountered. Like seriously- look at this blog.
