VCR recording or DVR recording: no difference

Why would people pay for Hulu? You don’t pay for network TV stations, so why would they suddenly be willing to pay for things that are already free for them? I just read an article that in spite of the fact that many or most people now have DVRs, the majority of TV is still watched live. I don’t really watch much TV, but I find that often when I do watch things that I record, I am watching them basically live… delayed just enough that I can fast forward through the commercials. I don’t watch anything on Hulu, ever. The only times I have watched TV shows on the internet is when my recorder missed Glee because it was full, and I watched it on Fox’s site. And honestly, given the choice between not watching it and paying to watch it, I would choose not watching it. I’d wait until it came out on DVD and rent it. I have a laptop, and watching things on the laptop screen is just abominable.

I don’t really think TV watching has changed much. When I was a kid, we would set the VCR to record things we wanted to watch but weren’t going to be home to watch when it aired. Different technology, same thing…
