I am so out of touch with how other people work… My main job is part-time and from home… I am a telecommuter. It seems reasonable enough to think that more people might be telecommuting in the future. I don’t know why more people who spend their days shackled to a computer don’t demand it. My father also works from home, so it never really seemed like a novelty to me. I guess the reactions I get from other people when I tell them about my work situation should be an indication of how not-normal it is for others.
I don’t know enough about the iPad to have any idea what sort of role it could fill in a workplace. I don’t see why it should or shouldn’t have a niche in workplaces. I’m sure someone will find a use for it, though what, I cannot imagine. It seems like an oversized iPhone, another thing I don’t have any use for or interest in. I think Apple’s shamelessly high-pitched scheduled obsolescence will be the biggest preventative from keeping something like the iPad from becoming anything more than a novelty device.
