Say what you will about the theme, Lolita’s got hot fashion sense.

Those of you who are familiar with the theme of Vladimir Nobokov’s controversial and unconventional piece of literature, Lolita, may find it hard to understand that this is, in part, a review of fashion derived from the 90′s film adaptation, starring Jeremy Irons and Dominique Swain. Lolita, a nymphet character, wears 1940′s rompers, has tiny Alpinian braids pinned atop her head, ankle socks, black and white oxford shoes, and a slash of bright red lipstick on an otherwise freshly-scrubbed face. At other times, she wears an enviable two-piece ensemble, pictured above. In no way do I approve of the idea of any childhood fetish, but I find it interesting that the novel is written with the main villain being someone you have a hard time not feeling sorry for. Based on a very dark and complex piece of literature, it is interesting to watch the way it unfolds onscreen.
