I discovered a book by Marie Laurencin upon my last visit to the fantastic three-story Portland library. I was perusing the art and photography section when I was inspired by the fresh and springy image on the cover of the book. After checking it out I discovered the work was from the 1930′s!
A vast majority of Laurencin’s work depicts women in demure and affectionate poses: sitting, hugging, standing together and creating soft and wistful feelings for the viewer.
