Productivity

Mobile devices and wireless internet have obviously shaped the way people work in today’s world, and I see the trend continuing over the next few years as wi-fi hot spots become prevalent and working remotely becomes more acceptable in the workplace. For many jobs there is simply not much need to be tethered to the traditional office. We can conduct video meetings from a beach and create presentations on mobile devices like the iPad.Although there is a lot of potential in the iPad, I am not sure it will find much of a niche in the workplace. If anything, it can be a flashy portable presentation tool, but unless they do something about the storage capabilities I see it limited to presentations and being a consumer entertainment consumption device. If you need something for wor1k, you’re better off spending the extra couple of hundred bucks and getting a basic Macbook.

To throw a little conspiracy theory into the mix, if there are any conclusive studies that can prove the link between mobile devices and cancer, I see production coming to a standstill, as this post has been brought to you courtesy of my Macbook Pro on a wireless network while my iPhone sits in my pocket waiting for my next text to come through.
