In MUFF We Trust

MUFF is an acronym.  And contrary to what you may imagine, it is not a dirty one.   It stands for: Montreal Underground Film Festival. Which is what it is.  But what exactly is an underground film, you ask?  Well, according to the MUFF, an underground film is one which fulfills two criteria: 1) it has not been funded by a major governmental or corporate entity, and 2) it has not been shown anywhere that could be considered even remotely commercial. This criteria, although useful in some respects, is relatively useless when it comes to categorizing an underground film by anything related to style, genre, or content.  But I guess that’s what MUFF is for.  With their screenings divided according to category — this year’s screenings including classifications such as MERMAIDS,  SPRAY-PAINTED YOUTH, FUCK YOU LIKE A BILLIONAIRE, SEX, DRUGS & TEABAGGING, and SCIENCE FICTION IS ADDICTION — MUFF is a feast for the eyes, ears, and experiential soul.
With a variety of films to tickle any bizarre or pervish fantasy shown in found spaces, with tantalizing titles like Iche Bombe, Mimesis, My Dog Doesn’t Have a Job, Wrestling With My Father, and The Girl With the Yellow Stockings, MUFF provides a delectable buffet of boldly bizarre experimental shorts to satisfy all of your unexpected, raunchy, and/or sensual needs.  When you dare to do it underground, anything can happen.  In Muff We Trust!!!
