It’s a running joke that the best thing about living in Spain is how close it is to Portugal. Every time I go, I’m struck by how into culture the people are, and how amazing the food architecture and countryside are. My favourite favourite thing about Portugal though are the little custard tarts and small strong coffees you can get in every bar for cheap. I think about that combination and want to cry. It’s almost too perfect.

A casa in Gracia, is a Portugese restaurant and deli, that has become my new favourite take away for Sunday mornings. It’s exactly the kind of place that Barcelona lacks: it looks good without being pretencious. It’s not expensive. And best of all they do those cakes, those wonderful wonderful cakes. Oh god.
