Round this time of the year, young people’s minds turn to thoughts of summer. A period that in Vancouver is defined by sun, skin and the gloriousness that is the Nordic Trax label.
Over the years, producers, DJs and label have come and gone from the Vancouver landscape. Some can’t take the weight, some start playing trance, but Luke McKeehan, Dana D and the Nordic Trax artists have always been there, defenders of the deep house faith.
The NT sounds has always been a distinctly pacific northwest sound, let alone a west coast sound, something whose essence you get at any NT show, be it frequent gigs with the likes of friends Mark Farina and DJ Heather, or their legendary Canada Day get togethers.
The label itself has broken names like local underground hero Gavin Froome, techno Vet Jay Tripwire, Morgan Page, Jon Delerious and countless others. The individual sounds may differ, but deep have never been this pine fresh before.
