I have two places on my lunch list, neither truly new, but for me, new. Due to office location and my ridiculous work time-table I have not made it to either restaurant yet. Thankfully, it seems no one else has yet found these two gems even though they serve great food! I will share them with you now, but don’t tell too many people as I want to get a table in the near future.
The first is a restaurant named Hjerta (Heart) on the island of Skeppsholmen in central Stockholm. The island is also home to the modern art museum, the reasonably new Hotel Skeppsholmen and some fantastic views of the city. The restaurant is in a former shipyard and over looks the water and the house boats which surround the island.
Also next to the water but tucked away on the island of Kungsholmen is Jin & Peeters Dumplings and Chicken Deli. As the name suggests they do two main dishes; dumplings or rotisserie chicken which you can then follow with Belgian waffles. They seem to be doing it right, keeping it simple, but challenging expectations of a restaurant in Sweden.
