Darwin Cafe is tucked in an alley between Bryant and Brannan streets in SOMA. It’s a brand new addition to the side street, known mostly for 330 Ritch, home of Popscene, and Little Skillet‘s chicken and waffles. But it’s set apart from the alley’s other action and has sprung up in a space formerly occupied by smoke breaks and dudes that use the freight elevator.
No matter. San Franciscan’s love discovering the next hidden gem, and the covert cafe has already become a favorite among the South Park lunch crowd. And staying open past 3 pm is unique for eateries in the area, so I can only imagine that they lure in quite a few people for the rare cheap after work drink.
