Gettin’ Down With The Designer Ginch

Claire | October 4th, 2010

My friend and I were DJing at a music festival this summer dressed up as Russian Schoolgirls, with super short plaid skirts, white knee socks and little bow-ties.  While I moved delicately to avoid flashing the world with my ass cheeks, my partner in crime was two steps ahead: proudly sporting a pair of white ruffled panties.  She flaunted her ass with pride, knowing that those who caught a glimpse would be confronted with a waft of becoming white ruffles.

I couldn’t help but smile.  And from that point on whenever I wander into a lingerie store or random chic boutique, I keep seeing ruffled underpants! Designers like Candi Factory are gettin’ down with the designer grinch. They are treating undergarments as an artist’s canvas, adorning them with ruffles, flowers, rainbows, puffy clouds, and other delightfully kitsch designs.

Alas, this style is not for everyone. For those of us (like me) who prefer to spend our extra cash on accessories which are intended to be visible at all times, why not splurge on a shiny silver mini-robot necklace? Even better, a pair of chainsaw earrings.  Or if perchance you are feeling the need to express yourself to the max, (provided you don’t suffer from finger-claustrophobia) why not invest that extra coin into an ultramodern lightning bolt shaped two-finger-ring?  BLAM!
