I still have an expensive cable subscription, mainly because I love its built-in On-Demand and the DVR feature. I am ready to give it up, though, as soon as the channel and movie selection on other streaming/on-demand services get beefed up. Still, most of the TV I watch is on Hulu, Netflix or Netflix on Demand.
I like accessing these through a video game system (in my case, Wii) or on my laptop, but the final piece of the puzzle is my iPhone! Yes, I’m an iPhone addict and I’d love to be able to catch up on programs when I’m stuck in a waiting room, on a train, or wherever I may have a an extra half-hour to kill.
I was really excited when I heard Hulu Plus was coming out. Although many are complaining about the $10/month subscription service, especially because the programming still includes cables, I think it’s a fair price to be able to get Hulu’s large selection of new and old shows.
Too bad the execution, so far, leaves much to be desired. I’ve tested out the app and the streaming is choppy and the navigation is frustrating. The computer version of Hulu Plus doesn’t offer enough extra features to make the subscription worth it. It’s super-disappointing. Netflix on Demand is still the superior service, and I hope they come out with an iPhone/iPad app for subscribers soon.
