Allie Hughes has a voice that might bring you to tears or make you riot. Technically trained in opera, Allie and her 5 piece band of violin, accordion, upright base, drums and more, span the genres of pop, punk, show tunes and a bit of awesomeness.
We had the pleasure of having Allie Hughes perform at 69 Vintage Collective for the Nuit Blanche festivities where we invited passers by to enjoy hot cider, fresh baked cookies and some live music. Hughes reminds me a bit of Nina Hagen, or The Dresden Dolls in her operatic keys and dramatic flare but threw in a cover of Brittany Spears’ Toxic (a surprisingly popular cover song these days) to give us something to sing along to.
