I always get a little psyched when I hear The X-Files theme song, and I believe in all types of phenomena except for ghosts, but lately everyone keeps talking about UFOs. It started with the former military general on CNN saying that they have documented UFOs (posted and re-posted), then apparently there has been some UFO activity over China that shut down an airport (all over FB) as well as in Mongolia. There were also a bunch of tweeted images of UFOs over Chelsea and I saw one of those balloon cluster looking UFOs the other day when I was in Williamsburg which I had also seen years ago in San Francisco. I think that perhaps this is a series of misunderstandings (sketch military activity), but the fact that its become a trending topic makes it feel a bit War of the Worlds-like, circa 2010, in that it’s a national emergency as entertainment. Twitter generated phenomena meets paranormal phenomena.
