There’s something to the hype. With Girls’ new single, “Broken Dreams Club,” they’re proving that their first album was not a freshman fluke. Their second effort doesn’t just solidify their place among my favorite San Francisco bands, it makes me hopeful that I will be downloading great new songs of theirs for years to come.
The EP was reportedly worked down to 6 tracks from the 70 that the band had in the hopper. Not only that, but Christopher Owens wrote fans a little note about the release. The whole thing seems both enthusiastic and earnest. You really want these guys to succeed, and it’s great that we get to share in their excitment as they do it.
