Not the newest film, but new to me, I recently saw Meeting People is Easy. It’s a documentary about Radiohead, 80% of which was shot super quickly in an over-stylized vision, like the weird filler of cityscapes and streets used in the MTV series The Real World. I learned little to nothing about the band. I wanted to see and hear interviews (all included interviews were mumbles and had printed interview in text running through it — subtitles were not available), see creative process, and learn about backgrounds and inspiration. What I got was a pretentious half-assed filler film with drawings and lackluster shots of following the band around. The very quiet and exhausted-seeming band seemed uninterested.
If you want to get to know Radiohead, listen to their music and go see them live. Otherwise you might get nothing from the experience.
