Cyberpunk 3.0 Slowly Emerging from NYC

Callan | December 20th, 2010

The first time the cyberpunk thing happened it was perhaps related to the film Liquid Sky but I have no idea if that is true cuz I was about 1 year old. The look was successfully abducted into Burning Man and hacker culture, but other than in Canada, Berlin, and other strange northern climes, it mostly disappeared.

Well its back (kinda), at least within the fashion elite in New York, although it’s hard to name and describe. It involves designer trends with pronounced shoulders from 7 New York and Oak, occasionally colored wigs, 3-D image graphics, and generally futuristic sensibilities. This will be remembered as THE look for 2010 if it makes it to the presses in time. If you combine Dis Magazine, dumpfm.com, MIA, Second Life, and warehouse parties/raves you have this style. I know this sounds esoteric but it is no joke.
