Pho vs Ramen

Callan | December 16th, 2010

When it gets cold everybody I know in New York starts the ritualized eating of their Asian noodle soups of choice. It usually comes down to Pho or Ramen but sometimes hand-pulled Chinese noodles and Udon are alternatives. Everyone has their place which they think is the best and sometimes it can become a heated emotional debate.

A few weeks ago on the first really really cold day of the year I went to Pho Grand and it was packed with all sorts of downtown Manhattan “dudes” that I know.  You are young, you are poorer than you let on, and you are freezing and probably have your fourth cold this year. Let’s get Pho buddy, its only like 6 dollars. Oh you have a date? Ippudo (I prefer Minca).
