The product is not yet complete, but we’ve been treated to a preview. Evan Ratliff, a writer for the New Yorker and Wired Magazine, has started his own boutique publishing house for long form non-fiction. The project–or rather the publishing house–is called The Atavist. It publishes shorter than book and longer than magazine-length articles on mobile devices.
Although no stories have been released yet, we know that the National Magazine Award winner Paige Williams will be one of the first to be published, along with accomplished journalists Brendan I Koerner and Jon Mooallem. There’s no doubt that the writing will be great. And I have high hopes that Evan, an editor of Pop-Up Magazine, is on to something big, really big.
