I’ve been circling dotcoms in Vancouver for long enough to know the names people refer to in awe. Those dudes so above us all that people cross themselves, wet themselves or just giggle in equal measure.
Stewart Butterfield is one of those guys. You may be familiar with one of his most well known projects, that internationally renowned beast of a photo archive known as Flickr.
Bought by Yahoo, he got in and out of that maelstrom pretty quick. Now it’s Glitch, his latest project, that has everyone super excited. It is a flash-based multiplayer game which takes place inside the minds of 11 giants. Fabulous art, quests you can roll out on and a pig that will let you eat it while it’s still alive.
Rumoured to be launching in early 2011, it takes the MMO concepts of World Of Warcraft to a whole new level. If you’re on the ball, you might be one of the 5000 people out there testing the game. If not, your chance will come soon. Handcrafted epics like this don’t come along very often, especially in the day and age of hyper-speed internet maturation and development.
