George Bernard Shaw once said “youth is wasted on the young,” but this is not always the case. When it comes to certain bright minds like Nicolas Jaar, they exercise their youthfulness to its full potential, achieving things that many twice their age could only dream of.
Influenced by the minimalesque Erik Satie and the worldly sounds of Mulatu Astatke, at the tender age of 19, Jaar has already played at legendary clubs like Der Visionaire in Berlin and the MUTEK festival in Montreal. And his prestige is only growing. Seth Troxler dubbed him “one of the most talented minds dance music is about to see develop.”
If you take a listen to this live set he made about a year ago for Airdrop records, you may agree that this young man has something rather special.
