Not Exactly News to Anyone

So I guess maybe I was wrong about No Age.

I never really cared much for them, but while driving through the desert to go home for the holidays, I listened to their most recent album Everything In Between (hardly new anymore — it came out in September). I thought “Ah. So I see now why all of my teenaged students love this band.” It’s nice pop music. I’m too stubborn to go and re-listen to their older albums and see if I actually don’t like them, or if I just convinced myself I didn’t for some obscure reason or another.

Another hardly new release I just finally got: Best Coast’s Crazy for You. I can’t believe how long ago it came out and that I only just got it a couple of weeks ago in Phoenix.

In my defense, for both of these, I guess it hardly seems vital to rush out and get albums by bands that you can see play live basically every other week, or so it seems. My friends tease me all the time because I won’t shut up about how much I love Best Coast. I feel like I say “I love Best Coast” at least once a day. And with good reason: Her music is hella good. I guess I was sort of afraid I wouldn’t be into the album, and so I just avoided listening to it. Well, that was awfully silly. It’s great. And the lyrics for “Our Deal” make me laugh every time.
