The Ombre and Dark Roots

Callan | March 28th, 2011

It’s fashion week and I have managed to avoid/not get invited to most of the parties except for a few. Last night it was a Seven New York party where I saw some of the most flamboyant cyber-goth-punk-gay-Japanese-conceptual  looks I have ever seen (all manner of head shaving, round sunglasses, shoulderpads, mohawks, more bleached eyebrows etc.) The looks I saw barely represented street trends or clothes people actually wear anywhere else and the whole night was just kinda Zoolander-y. I did see some really common trends right now. For example: Roots in all lengths. Grown out bleached hair is really common following years of platinum blonde hipsters. Often 2″ grown out, or in some cases 7″ grown out. I have learned from the internet that this is called an “ombre,” and supposedly girls are having the bottom of their hair dyed at expensive salons to look like its grown out or color-faded.

I love Alexa Chung. She is just a really special babe.
