The Roku box is here. As the only one of my friends who pays for on-demand cable, I feel even stupider, but also more decadent because I now have both. The Roku allows you to stream Netflix Watch Instantly, which has really stepped up its game in the titles it’s releasing. You can catch up on SKINS or watch European Art Films at about the same time they’re released on TV/in US theaters. The Roku also allows you to watch Hulu Plus for $7 a month. So it’s basically TV without commercials, and a virtual video store for $7 monthly and $100 to buy the box. Pretty amazing.
Sorry video stores, but at least we won’t have to fight with our girlfriends in public about what we want to watch anymore.
