On my recent trip to Hong Kong I had an inordinately large amount of time dedicated to watch films on the plane. A highlight of my viewing was the Australian film Animal Kingdom written and directed by David Michôd.A rather gritty and grim story of criminal life in Melbourne. The only actor I have heard of was Guy Pearce, who played detective Leckie. I haven’t seen him in a film since the Hurt Locker but he was great. I’m not usually a fan of Australian films but the ones I can say I have ever enjoyed and have had an effect on me were Bad Boy Bubby and Picnic at Hanging Rock both worth watching in their own special ways.
