Ok, I’ve only caught a couple episodes, and I kind of already knew I’d love it. But, I LOVE Portlandia. Fred Armisen is great and I have totally adored Carrie Brownstein since I was a teeny bopper dancing in my bedroom to Sleater-Kinney.

The wit is exactly what you want from your hip-to-be-cool sketch comedy show and the brand of off kilter humor found in a town like Portland really resonates with us Austinites. Also, I caught Carrie Brownstein with her new band Wild Flag (also with Janet Weiss of Sleater Kinney and Mary Timony) at SXSW and they rocked. I don’t care if these riot grrls are selling out with TV shows and the like. They’re bright, funny, savvy women and as I grow older they’re still turning out stuff I love.
