Bright and Crazy Hair’s Subtler Sister

Sage | April 19th, 2011

I really love some of the new approaches to subtle ‘crazy hair color’.  When I was in high school, I was constantly dyeing my hair with Manic Panic [available at any Hot Topic] or Punky Color, the super-bright vegetable dyes that last a surprisingly long time atop bleached hair. In those instances, it was my goal for my hair to be as rich, saturated, and BRIGHT as possible. However, times have changed and I’ve noticed in some of the newer magazines, such as the February Vogue, colorists have used the same process but with a more muted tone, like the peachy-pale orange above.

For example, I REALLY like this pale grey-lavender hair color, it looks sort of toned down and ethereal, as opposed to crazy in-your-face hair that was so popular in the 90′s! The pink hair below is also super sweet. Welcome to ‘bright and crazy’s’ younger, subtler 21st century sister.
