Muscovites are about to get their own version of Disneyland. A huge chunk of derelict land, which is currently called Gorky Park, will be transformed and rebuilt to become one of the biggest entertainment parks in Europe.
It is easy to guess who will be the main investor for this ambitious and bizarre project. Roman Abramovich along with the City Council will spend several billions dollars on the upgrade works and state of the art equipment as promised. It is said that there will be experts from Strelka School of Architecture on the design side of this project who also plan to build a new Centre of Contemporary Art just on the sight.
However eclectic and gaudy it might sound, all these plans are praiseworthy as nowadays a huge Gorky Park – situated in the very heart of Moscow – serves as a firing field for street gangs and festive glade for the notorious debauches of army demobees.
