From Nicki Minaj and Rihanna to “emo” mall-kids with raver backpacks, it seemed that bright red or blue hair was everywhere except for the cool kids in cities like NY and LA, who are believed to descend from the “alternative” lifestylings that popularized dyed hair in the early 80′s. For them, having dyed hair was still thought of as something you got out of your system in high school, and was the antithesis of cool.
Surprise! It’s hip again everywhere, particularly blue. Seen from high fashion runways to net-art kids, having hair dyed in colors such as Hi-Liter yellow, greyish blue, and pale pink is becoming trendy. It’s a great look and goes with the whole new-age net-raver look which is still slowly emerging from Brooklyn.
